Wellington, FL – November 13, 2012 – The College Preparatory Invitational (CPI) is pleased to announce that The University of Findlay has joined as a major sponsor for their 2013 event. The third annual CPI is scheduled for January 18-20, 2013, at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, FL.
Rooted in the belief that equestrian talent, not finances, should dictate an equestrian student’s opportunity to be part of a collegiate team, the pioneering CPI Horse Show is specifically geared to promote college recruitment of equestrians by providing a platform for coaches and potential students to meet in person.
“The CPI Horse Show is an asset for both students aspiring to become part of a collegiate equestrian team, AND for coaches looking to recruit talented young equestrians to join their respective education institutions,” stated Stella Prescott, director of the hunter/jumper program at The University of Findlay. According to Prescott, “We believe the CPI is an important event we do not want to miss. The participants are our target audience — riders of high school age who want to ride throughout college. The best part is, the CPI Horse Show puts all of the riders in one location to allow us to see more riders.”
Echoing Prescott’s perspective, Janet Harms, The University of Findlay director of dressage programs, stated, “We’re looking for students who are interested in continuing their passion for riding while attending college. I want students to be able to ride, whether it’s their own horse or a University-owned horse, and be able to progress in their skills. The University has such a variety of horses that range from training level to the FEI levels. I enjoy working with students who are motivated and enjoy communicating about their riding.”

The sponsorship endorsement of The University of Findlay, located in Findlay, Ohio, is one of numerous collegiate collaborations for the 2013 CPI Horse Show. “We are thrilled to partner with The University of Findlay as one of our major sponsors for the 2013 CPI Horse Show,” stated Jeanne Rouco-Conesa, President of the College Preparatory Invitational. “Given The University of Findlay’s hands-on approach to education with innovative and career-oriented programs in nearly 60 majors and 10 graduate and professional degrees, along with its unique equestrian program, ‘The University’ is a perfect match with the CPI.”
“Additionally, we would like to welcome all of the participating colleges and universities for the 2013 CPI Horse Show, including Alfred University, Centenary College, Mississippi College, Randolph College and Virginia Intermont University,” said Rouco-Conesa. “We’re confident that through our comprehensive preparatory program, many talented and aspiring equestrians will be matched with their perfect higher education partners.”

About the College Preparatory Invitational
The mission of the CPI is to prepare and educate student riders in grades 8 – 12 about the format of college equestrian competition, encourage academics and horsemanship, and to provide the riders with resources to create their desired college equestrian experience. The show is specifically geared to promote college recruitment of equestrians by providing the opportunity for coaches and potential students to meet in person. The College Preparatory Invitational Horse Show is rooted in the belief that equestrian talent, not finances, should dictate a rider’s opportunity to be a part of a collegiate team.

Along with the competition, the CPI will offer seminars and question & answer sessions during the show. Riders and their families will hear about the college equestrian experience and familiarize themselves with the different associations that govern collegiate riding. There will also be a number or College and Universities present at the CPI to distribute literature and introduce the academic and riding opportunities, including scholarships, offered at their respective institutions.
