Washington, D.C. – March 13, 2018 – The Experiment in International Living offers a variety of fun and educational summer abroad opportunities for high school students around the world. Two exciting adventures with equestrian components are in Mongolia and Argentina, but there are even more incredible programs from which to choose, including LGBTQ+ Rights & Dutch Culture in the Netherlands; Human Rights & College Discovery in a trip that spans New York City, Washington, DC, and Atlanta, Georgia; French Language & Culinary Training in Paris and Lyon; and Soccer & Social Change in São Paolo, Brazil.

With more than 85 years of experience in international education through experiential learning, The Experiment is the flagship program of World Learning, a global nonprofit organization with education, sustainable development, and exchange programs that have impact in 150 countries.
Students who take part in the summer study abroad programs will have an immersive learning and cultural experience. Students travel in small and diverse groups of up to 15 participants and are led by two carefully selected and trained adult group leaders. There is a network of in-country support to create a safe, student-centered learning approach.
Argentina – Community Service & The Great Outdoors
- July 4-July 31, 2018
- Features horseback riding in the mountains, whitewater rafting, hiking, rugged travel, camping, and a homestay
- Earn a community service certificate (25-30 hours)
- The orientation is in Buenos Aires, and the homestay in Salta or Jujuy

Mongolia – Nomadic Culture & Outdoor Adventure

The Netherlands – LGBTQ+ Rights & Dutch Culture

- Learn about peace, politics, human rights, and social change, and participate in workshops on gender and transgender issues
- Visit the Peace Palace and International Court of Justice at The Hague and experience the multicultural city of Rotterdam
- Engage in physical activities such as a bike tour in Amsterdam and immerse yourself in Dutch culture with a local homestay

United States – Human Rights & College Discovery
- July 16-July 30, 2018
- Learn about peace, politics, human rights, and social change, plus stay in a college dorm, and experience life as a local during a homestay
- Travel includes New York City for workshops and tours at universities with human rights programs; Washington, DC to engage with the Human Rights Campaign and see museums; and Atlanta, Georgia, for a homestay with a local family and learn about the city’s crucial role in civil rights

Brazil – Soccer & Social Change

- Practice soccer fundamentals with a Brazilian coach as well as local high school students
- Learn how soccer can influence education and community development
- Take basic Portuguese language lessons

More than 70,000 alumni have taken part in The Experiment. In a recent survey, 85 precent of alumni said The Experiment increased their understanding of international social issues, 75 percent said it increased their ability to work with others in groups or on teams, and 73 percent said The Experiment programs proved useful on academic applications.
