Arcadia, CA – June 30, 2010 – HRTV will continue to spice up its equestrian-related programming schedule when it premieres two back-to-back one-hour shows produce by Equestrian Life titled “The Mane Event: Devon Horse Show,” on Monday, July 5, beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. The shows will also re-air numerous times.
The prestigious Devon Horse Show is the oldest and largest multi-breed horse competition in the U.S. The 114th edition of the premier event, recognized for the second consecutive year as the “Horse Show of the Year,” was conducted from Thursday, May 26 through Sunday, June 6 from Devon, PA. More than 100,000 fans attended this year’s event.
“The tradition of the Devon Horse Show is special within the horse sport community,” said Jim Bates, HRTV’s Executive Vice President and General Manager. “Having this programming, through our association with Equestrian Life, greatly enhances our continued commitment to provide the best in equestrian-related programming for our viewers.”
The shows will feature highlights of the $100,000 Grand Prix of Devon, which pits the best show jumpers in the country. After competitors clear a large, technical course, those who complete with no faults in the first round go head-to-head in a second round, negotiating a shortened course. Also included is the Open Jumper Championship.
In addition to the intense competitions, the shows will also feature color pieces which highlight general information on the Devon Horse Show, including its rich history, as well as the remarkable “sights and sounds” of the Devon Horse & Country Fair. There is also a look into the world of the “Devon Ponies” and the “Devon Coaches and Carriages,” which illustrates the diversity of horse sport.
