Wellington, FL- February 10, 2010 -Beezie Madden (USA) her new mount Mademoiselle, owned by Abigail Wexner and C&S Partnership LLC, produced a flawless round in a time of 67.897 seconds to capture the win in the Sentient Jet $8,000 1.45m Jumper class. Second place honors went to Lauren Hough (USA) on Casadora owned by Laura Mateo. Ali Nilforushan (IRA) on his mount Pegasus, owned by Stal Thijssen BV, captured third place.

The fifth week of the FTI WEF is sponsored by Spy Coast Farm and runs through Sunday, February 14. The 2010 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival has 12 weeks of competition that conclude on April 4, 2010, and they will be awarding almost $6 million in prize money through the circuit.

Richard Jeffrey of England designed the course in the International Arena on this chilly Wednesday morning. There were 11 numbered obstacles, which included a long stretch to a water jump option, a triple bar oxer to an in-and-out, and a triple combination that was one of the last elements on course. The time allowed in the speed class, which consisted of only one round was 85 seconds.  There were 13 clear rounds over the course of 34 entries. The early leader of the class was Lauren Hough up on her mount Casadora, owned by Laura Mateo. The pair assumed the lead when they stopped the timers with a fault free round in a time of 68.985 seconds.

There were many fault-free efforts that followed, but none that could take over the top spot. Pablo Barrios (VEN) and his ride G&C Blanchee Z, owned by Gustavo & Carolina Mirabal, made a great effort and stopped the clock at 71.538 seconds. The pair took the fifth spot in today’s class. Ali Nilforushan (IRA) on his ride Pegasus, owned by Stal Thijssen, came very close after having a faultless round. However, Nilforushan stopped the timers 70.494 seconds, which was good enough to assume the third spot.

The lead did not change hands until Beezie Madden entered the ring on her mount Mademoiselle, owned by Abigail Wexner and C&S Partnership. The pair navigated the course beautifully, producing a perfect score in a time of 67.897 seconds. Madden chose the water jump option, which took seconds off of her time, and the pair displayed the best round of the morning.

Madden spoke of the 13-year-old mare Mademoiselle, “This is a brand new horse for me that is a dream to have.” She continued, “She came from Richard Spooner and Mrs. Wexler just purchased her for me.”

Madden’s strategy for today’s class was working out of a gallop because she had a time fault last week on the mare. She said of the course, “This was a great course for me because it was smooth and flowing and there weren’t such crazy turns. It worked out perfectly.”

Expect to see Beezie Madden and her new horse Mademoiselle in tomorrow’s $30,000 WEF Challenge Cup Round Five in the International Ring at 1 p.m. and in the $25,000 Suncast 1.50m Classic this Sunday. This week’s highlight class is the $150,000 FEI World Cup Grand Prix, CSI 3*, presented by Spy Coast Farm, on Saturday, February 13, at 7 p.m. in the International Arena.
