Wellington, FL – May 25, 2010 – Equestrian Sport Productions had five strong weeks of their Spring Circuit through April and May, which included three “AA” rated, one “A” rated and one “C” rated shows. It featured three $25,000 grand prix classes, the $2,500 Derby Style Huntland Pony Classic, Low and High Junior/Amateur classes on the grass at The Stadium, and the $5,000 Driftwood 3′ Derby Style Hunter Classic.

While the spring shows have finished, exhibitors who want to compete in the summer months at the best horse show facility in the U.S. will have plenty of opportunities.

The Equestrian Sport Productions Summer and Early Fall Series are all USEF, North American League, and Marshall & Sterling League approved. If you buy your stalls early, you receive them at the amazing discounted price of just $30 per stall.

Night classes “under the lights” in the International Ring will be held for Children’s/Adult Jumpers with $20,000 classes held during the June I and Labor Day shows. All of the “A” rated shows will have a $10,000 Open Stake class, while all of the shows will have a $5,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Stake. All of the equitation classes will count towards their respective finals, and also offered at each show is a $500 Children’s/Adult Hunter Classic and a $500 Pony Hunter Classic.

June I – June 4-6, 2010 – “A” rated and 3* Jumpers

June II – June 11-13, 2010 – “A” rated and 3* Jumpers

ESP Summer III – August 27-29, 2010 – “A” rated and 3* Jumpers

ESP Labor Day – September 3-4, 2010 – “A” rated and 3* Jumpers

ESP September – September 17-19, 2010 – “A” rated and 3* Jumpers

Florida State Fall – September 24-26, 2010 – “A” rated and 3* Jumpers

Rita & Irish Flynn Show – October 2-3, 2010 – “C” rated and 2* Jumpers

ESP October – October 8-10, 2010 – “A” rated and 3* Jumpers

2010 ESP Spring Circuit Highlights

The winners of the $25,000 Grand Prix classes during the spring circuit were Brianne Goutal with Casar DE, Kristen Vanderveen on Bull Run’s La Bamba, and Charlie Jayne riding Sampras.

Goutal captured the win in the first week’s grand prix competition, the $25,000 Equestrian Properties Grand Prix, with Casar DE, a horse that came back from a two year break after injury. They showed in the International Ring during the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), but this was their first grand prix competition back together.

Goutal, of New York, NY, was happy to show at the spring show after WEF. “When you’re at WEF, you get caught up in the mix. Everyone has so much going on, (and) you experience every day very quickly. Once it slows down, you see how the facility has changed and improved. You step back and see how cool it is,” she pointed out.

She was also impressed with the footing during the class. “That day there was a huge thunderstorm,” she recalled. “There wasn’t even a puddle in the ring after torrential rain. To me, it’s refreshing that there’s a stadium like that in the U.S. where you can compete against the best in world at WEF and then post-season with strong and up and coming horses and be at an equally amazing facility.”

Kristen Vanderveen of Chicago, IL, was also excited to show her young horse, Bull Run’s La Bamba, in the International Ring, and that the grand prix that she won, the $25,000 Bahamas Eco Grand Prix, was held under the lights at night. “I was excited to show under lights,” she noted. “It provided great experience for younger horses to go under lights without a big track. I just got her six months ago, so to have this win was really encouraging. To get into the International Ring during WEF, you have to be ready to jump in top grand prix classes, and it was really nice to have these classes in that ring after circuit.”

While Charlie Jayne of Elgin, IL, was a top competitor in the grand prix competitions during WEF, he did not show his spring circuit winning partner, Sampras, there during circuit. “This was really him starting back up in Wellington. He liked the ring,” Jayne said.

Jayne agreed that the spring circuit shows are good opportunities for riders. “It’s great to have these classes,” he affirmed, “for people who had a late start or when classes get too big (during WEF), and it’s nice for young horses to gear up. The quality (of the classes) was really nice too.”

While the grand prix classes were a highlight, so were the other great classes offered in the International Ring for the hunters. The young riders had a chance to show their style in the $2,500 Derby Style Huntland Pony Classic. Top riders Meredith Darst and Victoria Colvin were victorious. Meredith Darst rode Elation for Dr. Betsee Parker to the win in the $2,500 Small division, while Colvin piloted For the Laughter, another Parker-owned entry, to victory in the $2,500 Medium/Large division.

Kristen Vanderveen picked up another victory when she rode Bull Run’s Kaleo to the win in the $5,000 Driftwood 3′ Derby Style Hunter Classic, which was held under the lights during the third spring show. The win was a great crossover for the grand prix rider, who helped make the spring circuit competitive in a number of divisions.
