Wellington, FL – April 15, 2014 – Equestrian Sport Productions LLC (ESP) hosted its second week of spring competition at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) in Wellington, FL, last week with a full schedule of hunter, jumper and equitation events. In the highlight $25,000 2kGrey ESP Spring 2 Grand Prix on Sunday, Chile’s Samuel Parot got a win on his brand new mount, Quick du Pottier.

The week’s jumper courses in the International Arena were designed by Steve Stephens (USA). In Sunday’s grand prix, 47 entries jumped the first round track with eight advancing to the jump-off, and three double clear rounds. Samuel Parot and Quick du Potter blazed through the short course in 35.44 seconds to take the top spot. Paul O’Shea (IRL) and Gotham Enterprizes LLC’s River Dance Semilly finished second in 36.87 seconds. Parot also took home the third place prize with his horse Al Calypso with a clear round in 39.19 seconds. Victoria Colvin (USA) guided Belle Grey Farm’s Every Way to fourth place honors with the fastest four-fault round in 35.80 seconds.

This weekend was Parot’s first time showing Quick du Pottier since he just purchased the horse from its previous rider, Alonso Valdez Prado, last week. Quick du Pottier is a ten-year-old Selle Francais gelding by Hurlevent De Breka.
“I bought him this week. I am so happy. This is the first time that I have shown him and to win the grand prix is great. He is a really top horse,” Parot stated after his win. “We leave tomorrow to Europe to jump the 5* in Gijon, Spain. I am very happy. I go with the three horses that jumped today and this was a nice way to start things.”

Commenting on his winning round, Parot noted, “The horse is very, very fast. I turned very close to the double. I think I won it there. The course was very difficult. There were not too many clear. The one line with the two combinations and the vertical with the liverpool after was difficult. The turn to the double combinations was hard. The distance was very short and you had to have a lot of scope and carefulness. It was not easy, but I liked it today.”
Parot hopes to make the team for Chile for the upcoming Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France, and has high hopes for his new partnership with Quick du Potter.
“He is a very special horse,” Parot described. “He is very sensitive. You need a very loose contact, and you have to be very soft. You have to be very careful with the horse. He is very good, and I am just getting to know him.”

Jumper Highlights
ESP’s Spring 2 horse show kicked off its jumper competition with a $10,000 Open Jumper Stake Class on Thursday and a win for Marcus Hagglund and Elena MM. Forty-seven entries showed, seventeen advanced to the jump-off, and six jumped double clear. Kristen Vanderveen and Bull Run’s Eternal finished second, David Blake and Pine Hollow Farm’s Doma Sue placed third, and Gemma Paternoster guided Julia Harrison Lee’s Figarro D to fourth place honors.
Also showing at PBIEC this week, Alexandra Pielet and Co-Pielet LLC’s Contino 44 won the $1,500 Tackeria NAL Child/Adult Jumper Classic. Katherine Johnson and Olivia D’Errico’s Belle finished second.
In the $2,500 Gold Coast Feed High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, Whitney Lyon and Coniston Farm’s Bugs Bunny V Overis Z were the winners. Ali Boone and Sterling Equestrian’s Wait and See finished second.
In the $2,500 Equiline NAL Low Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, Jennifer Frank and Zarkan were the winners. Sophie Walker and Sagamore Farm’s Mathilda finished second. The $2,500 Equiline NAL Low Junior Jumper Classic saw a win for Megan Eisenfelder aboard Sweet Oak Farm’s Quicksilver. Abbey Soffer and Shannon O’Neil’s Violetta finished second.
The $1,500 2kGrey M&S Children’s Jumper Classic was held on Sunday with a win for Hana Bieling and Lochmoor Stables’ P Welcome. Jessica Gollel and Suanders Sparkie finished second. In the $1,500 2kGrey M&S Adult Jumper Classic, Lindsey Tomeu and Dogwood Hill LLC’s Bonapart were the winners. Matty O’Rourke and Palvotti finished second.
The $1,500 Low Children’s Jumper Classic saw a win for Sabrina Dornau and Olivia Dornau’s Valentijn. Alexandra Pielet and Back Country Farm’s Justice League finished second. In the $1,500 Low Adult Jumper Classic, Lea Allen and Komedie de Montsec were the winners. Luciana Quinones and Michelle Navarro-Grau’s Roulette finished second.
Hunters and Equitation
The hunters and equitation continued in the second week of spring competition with many top competitors. In the Adult Amateur Working Hunters, Brooke Berganza rode Team Rakowski Equestrian LLC’s Quality to the division championship with Kelly Bauernschmidt and Lochmooor Stables’ Spyglass in reserve.
In the Equine Conditioning Center Amateur-Owner 3’3 and 3’6” division, Superman and Tracy Scheriff-Muser took the championship. There was a tie for reserve honors between Empire and Becky Gochman and Namesake with Chuck Mayer.
In the Green Working Hunters, Imperial Show Stables’ Chambers and Lourdes de Guardiola earned the championship with Lannie Lipson’s Casimir and Brooke Baldwin de Grazia in reserve.
Victoria Colvin dominated the #1 Education Place Junior Hunter 16-17 division. She took the championship honors with Rose Hill Farm’s Starmont and guided Rose Hill Farm’s Garfield to the reserve honors. In the #1 Education Place Small Junior Hunter 15 & Under, Lucie Harte’s Cafe Noir and Lily Gottwald earned the championship. Genuine and Lili Halterman finished in reserve. Colvin and Starmont also won the $1,000 Sweet Oak Farm Junior/Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic.
In the Large Pony Hunters, Emma Kurtz and Ally Kirk’s Mackay’s Show N Tell earned the championship with Spellbound and Bernadette Louise Chungunco in reserve. Kurtz dominated the Medium Pony Hunters, taking the championship with David Gochman’s Laugh Out Loud and finishing in reserve with Cyrus Taraporevala’s Blackout. The Small Pony Hunter championship went to Rico Suave, owned by Ponies & Palms Show Stables, and ridden by Sophie Gochman. Reserve honors went to Quicksilver Butterfly and Kate Taylor. Gochman and Rico Suave also won the $1,000 Small Pony Hunter Classic. Kurtz and Laugh out Loud topped the $1,000 Medium/Large Pony Hunter Classic.
In the equitation, Hannah Patten and Charlie won the Pessoa/USEF Hunt Seat Medal, sponsored by Randolph College, Gillian Kelley and Aramis were the winners of the ASPCA Maclay class, and Alexandra Indeglia and Bravo van de Kwakkelhoek topped the WIHS Equitation Classic Overall.
