Antioch, IL – September 8, 2011 – The $25,000 Chicago Hunter Derby returns for its third annual event this year on September 11, 2011, presented by CN, and hosted at the beautiful Annali Farm in Antioch, IL. Held as a benefit for The Children’s Memorial Hospital of Chicago as well as the USHJA Foundation, this unique event has activities for everyone to enjoy as they spend a weekend in the beautiful countryside.


The fantastic hunter derby weekend begins on Saturday, September 10, at 11 a.m. with the USHJA National Hunter Classic, presented by Barrington Saddlery. The $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby will run on Sunday, September 11, generously presented by CN.

The national and international hunter competition features some of the best athletes in the country, both horses and riders. New and returning competitors have been some of the highest ranking horses and riders in the hunter derby series since its inception.

In addition to featuring world-class equestrian competition, this weekend will be full of many fun activities for everyone to enjoy. It will be a great event for children and adults, horse lovers, and anyone who would like to support the Children’s Memorial Hospital or USHJA Foundation and enjoy a day on a beautiful horse farm.
Sunday’s attractions include kids horseless jumping, a petting zoo, cotton candy and soft pretzel stands, a Ferrari test drive and Range Rover display, and even raffles for a Judith Ripka ring or Hermes scarf. In addition to Sunday’s proceeds, all proceeds from the food stand through the weekend as well as Saturday’s USHJA National Hunter Classic presented by Barrington Saddlery will benefit those fantastic charities as well. This event will have something for everyone!


Along with the great competitors, Chicago Equestrians for a Cause has to thank the generous sponsors that have donated their time and support to the event. The 2011 Chicago Hunter Derby is a 2011-12 Member Event of the USHJA International Hunter Derby Series. Following in the footsteps of its first two events, the Chicago Hunter Derby hopes to raise even more money for Chicago Equestrians for a Cause, a philanthropic group that donates money to significant charities, including the Children’s Memorial Hospital and the USHJA Foundation. 


The USHJA Foundation is a non-profit organization with a mission to advance and promote the hunter and jumper disciplines by supporting the programs of the United States Hunter Jumper Association, Inc. The Foundation offers numerous new initiatives, including the Horsemen’s Assistance Fund which benefits horses, individuals and organization in need of emergency relief.


The Chicago Hunter Derby is a very distinctive event that draws the very best hunters from all over the country to compete. The class is held on the beautiful grass in-field of an old steeplechase track with a stunning pond in the background, adding to the unique history and atmosphere of the setting.
